Northern Log Supplies and Installs Wood Products After Smokehouse Fire
Known for smoked meats, sausage, and jerky, Steven Francis’ Country Smoke House is the largest deer processing facility in Michigan. Located in the small town of Almont, tourists from around the world come for the smoking BBQ cabin and rustic log cabin store. And let’s not forget the giant, 20-foot-tall steer located at the entrance!
About a year ago in October 2019, Country Smoke House suffered a terrible fire in its main building, where about 90 percent of the store’s original meat processing and retail area was damaged by the heat, smoke, and water. While undoubtedly devastating, Steven was eager to rebuild as soon as possible. He reached out to Northern Log Supply Owner Peter Green to supply and install the commercial wood products needed for the reconstruction. Having also experienced a fire just a few months prior, Northern Log was empathetic to their situation and wanted to help in any way possible.
The project began in December 2019. Northern Log supplied and installed the exterior materials for the rebuild, which was completed in March 2020. The interior installation is currently in progress but was held up due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The project is expected to be completed soon, and Country Smoke House expects to re-open later this year. We will update this page with the new interior photos once they become available.
