Turning a Barn Into a Wedding Venue with Northern Log Supply Products
Rustic chic wedding barns, with their high eaves, large space, and exposed beams, are rising in popularity among young couples looking to tie the knot. That’s where David Parks, owner of Parks Show Cattle, got the idea to convert one of his barns into a wedding venue and reception hall in Metamora, Michigan.
As a friend of the Northern Log Supply family, David leaned on owner Peter Green and his team of craftsmen to provide the design guidance and wood components, as well as help with installation, to renovate the barn. The project began in June 2019 and was completed during the winter of 2020. (In August 2019, a fire at the Northern Log facility caused the project to be temporarily put on hold.)
To build the wedding barn venue, Northern Log supplied the following commercial wood products:
8” rough sawn shiplap on ceilings, prestained stone grey
2” window, door, and base trim, prestained stone grey
Ranch steel wainscoting
Circle-sawn barn wood siding on interior walls, prestained warm walnut and stone grey
8x8, 6x10, 4x8, 7x14 douglas fir beams with 2’ and 3’ corbels
Cowboy steel on bar area ceiling
Custom 14” wavy edge steps to get into bar
Circle-sawn rebar railing around bar area
Arch top, 2 panel V-groove interior doors
Ranch steel wainscoting, whitewash shiplap on walls, and weathered grey 1x6 pine paneling on ceiling for women’s bathroom
Cowboy steel wainscoting, circle-sawn barn wood siding, and 1x6 warm walnut paneling on ceiling for men’s bathroom
